Oregon Independent Film Festival News

The Oregon Independent Film Festival is coming to Eugene and Portland from September 16-23, 2013.

OIFF is proud to present writer Ayub Khan-Din's personal, humorous and moving films about the character Zahir "George" Khan. These films are comic masterpieces about tradition, immigration and culture clash.

East is East (1999) looks at how leaving your homeland can erode the traditions and culture within a generation. West is West (2012) shows the same family going home again, revealing how much they have changed for better or for worse, and the things that never change.

The amazing film El Milagro also premiers this fall at OIFF! El Milagro is a documentary about a Peruvian city where the only jobs that exist are to find goods inside the trash of the gargantuan landfill on the edge of town. The film follows the young children who work there to feed their families.

We are pleased to have this year's festival screenings held in Portland, Oregon and at the legendary Bijou Cinemas of Eugene, Oregon.
