Carl Kitchens was eighteen years old when he entered the 1967 U.S. Marine Corps boot camp at Paris Island, South Carolina. By nineteen, he had been deployed to Vietnam as a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 970.

Three weeks after his 20th birthday, Carl was wounded in the same explosion that killed his best friend, Gary. The end of his fight in Vietnam marked the beginning of a much longer, much quieter war within himself.

Our offical reception venue for OIFF/PORTLAND is the Night Light Lounge.

On 8pm-11pm on Saturday Sept. 22nd, the Oregon Independent Film Festival is holding our Filmmaker Reception meet-up at the Night Light Lounge.

This Southeast Clinton neighborhood favorite has cocktails, and a variety of entrees ...made from high quality, conscientiously sourced ingredients prepared with care & attention ...and all at surprisingly low prices.

The Night Light Lounge is the perfect place to go after the Awards Ceremony, ..before coming back to Clinton Street to see the Saturday evening films!

If you think will be coming to the Saturday 8pm-11pm reception at the Night Light Lounge, do the venue a favor and go to OIFF/Portland ticketing and click on the the free ticket this event.

That ticket has no real value, but it gives the venue a sense of how many are coming, so they can be sure to be well-stocked and well-staffed for all us stopping by to meet one another (and to meet our favorite stars and filmmakers too).
