Black Fortune - Part - 1: The Revenge

INDIA / R

Dir: Sushmit Biswas

DOCUMENTARY PROGRAM 22B

This documentary showcases the life of pirates, especially Edward Teach.

Black Fortune - Part - 1 : The Revenge takes the audience back to the early 17th Century, when Bloodshed and Violence was a way of life. Mighty empires ruled the Atlantic Ocean, controlled trade and paid their sailors meagre wages.

After the Queen Anne's War, many privateers who fought for the British were abandoned by their country. This triggered a struggle in the Bahamas, with both Privateers and Slaves wanting freedom from colonial rule. Some sailors who were paid poorly by their countries, also decided to join these men and women.

This conflict gave us some of the most dangerous people the world, has ever seen. The likes of Anne Bonny, Blackbeard, Calico Jack Rackham, Charles Vane, and up to the most notorious (and richest) high seas pirate ever, Barthelomeow Roberts, better known as Black Bart.
